The New Flat

Put some spring into your step this season with the lace-up ballet flat. The new style of flat comes in all shapes, sizes and color. I opted for the faux suede, ( poor college students can’t afford real suede) but you can find them in leather and faux leather as well. To get the best bang for your buck, I suggest going for a neutral color like nude or black.

I just got my new flats two weeks ago and I LIVE in them! They go with everything: jeans, shorts, dresses. And even better I snagged mine from Nordstrom Rack for less than $50! Get ready to bring in the complements too, cause my friends can’t stop raving about my new shoes! FullSizeRender

Shoes: Nine West – Zafirah Ghillie Lace-Up Flat (Color: Natural)

This lazy Saturday afternoon I was feeling some retro vibes from my new turtleneck. Flashing back, turtlenecks have been a trend since Audrey Hepburn graced our movies screens in Funny Face, wearing this killer black turtleneck. This fall almost every runway featured one, as the 70s (when turtlenecks hit their peak) are revitalized this season. For this trend pair your favorite turtleneck with a suede skirt.

I put my own spin on the turtleneck, wearing it with black leggings and a messy bun.. What will you do? Go for the classic Audrey look or the grovy seventies.

Free People and Fall

So this summer I was already predicting the trends when I randomly walked into the Free People store in Annapolis and made myself a little outfit. My friend snapped this wonderful picture as a joke but not two days later the Annapolis store posted a picture of almost the exact same outfit (with the exception of the model wearing pants not shorts like me).

When I got home from the store I decided to look up the prices because I really loved both of the pieces I had on and the cost was little too steep for me…Labryinth Poncho $168.00 20150916033229

and Bandit Embellished Rancher Hat $5820150916033504

So I took it on myself to find the same pieces at a more reasonable price and here is what I got!

First is everyone’s favorite store, Target. I found a very cute wide brim, black hat for less than $20

Women’s Fedora Hat with Braided Sash and Wide Brim – Black $19.99

Second was under the Brass Plum (B.P.) section at Nordstrom I found this awesome, reversible poncho for less than $50!!
Southwestern Poncho $48
Happy Fall and Happy Shopping!!!

Rompers and Polaroids

I spent this afternoon galavanting around Downtown Annapolis in my new, flowy Astr romper or playsuit if you will. Wearing a romper is like being an acceptable version of a 5 year old in an adult body. They let you run around and be as free as can be and are a hot trend that is easily carried over from spring to summer. I paired my romper with my Birkenstocks for a day look but to transfer it to the evening just throw on your favorite wedges!  You can find this romper at Nordstrom, currently on sale for only $44.90!

I took these pictures on my Instax Mini 8, made by Fujifilm( $100). I have been experiencing issues with it when used in bright areas outside, so word of advice if you have one is if you are the subject of your picture try to be relatively close to the camera! I highly recommend getting a polaroid camera, new or old. They are so much fun to play around with!       XOXO Karen

Golden  Days

The sun is out which means everyone wants that bronzed look. Instead of layering on the bronzer this weekend, try putting it aside completely and focusing solely on your eyes. Channel your inner queen and try out some gold liner or eye shadow for a different kind of glow. Try products like Makeup Forever Aqua Cream eyeshadow in gold or Lancôme Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner.

32856650_011_a 33740267_024_0I have a new fall obsession and its the poncho. Don’t freak out I don’t mean those ugly plastic things you use to stay dry at Disney World. I am talking about the ultimate scarf. First there was the infinity scarf and now the blanket scarf and poncho to keep you warm this fall. <both from Free People>
